It provides support for social entrepreneurs in the earliest stages of business creation, whether their venture generates revenue or operates as a non-profit. The organization pursues a three-fold mission: to identify the best social entrepreneurs, provide them with expertise and coaching, and support them during development and fundraising.

The Idea

Challenges related to poverty, health, education and even climate-change make basic survival a concern in India. There are many social enterprises in India working towards finding innovative solutions to these challenges. Although social entrepreneurs, visionaries and change-makers work tirelessly to move a high-impact idea or venture forward, they too need critical support – such as mentoring and funding – until they can reach financial and operational sustainability.

With this thought she, along with Richard Alderson, founded UnLtd India in late 2007 with a mission to support and foster the development of a social entrepreneurship. UnLtd – The Foundation for Social Entrepreneurs – an organisation in the United Kingdom set up by seven organisations supports Unltd India. Unltd India is based in Mumbai.

Key programmes

UnLtd India, based out of Mumbai, offer entrepreneurs a complete ecosystem of seed funding, incubation support and co-working space with which to launch their ventures. UnLtd India organizes bi-annual incubations for participants chosen from among many applicants.

  • Incubation support – seed funding and support to pay for critical early start-up costs and support for your venture as you build it to a sustainable level.
  • Bootcamp – an intensive accelerator, hands-on coaching and training: on business and financial      planning, fundraising, legal structures, governance, marketing and HR management.
  • Bombay Connect (formerly Bombay Hub) – a laboratory and co-working space for social change.
